#ProjectUgnayan: An exceptional fusion of cross sector cooperation
The success of Project Ugnayan, a quick response initiative led by top business groups in cooperation with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) and Caritas Manila, is proof that collaborative partnerships work.
Driven by a shared vision of providing assistance to Filipinos economically displaced by the Covid-19 pandemic, the initiative was able to reach 1,522,569 families or 7,612,845 people in the vulnerable communities of Greater Metro Manila.
We applaud this substantial contribution of the private sector and the initiative of the project’s lead, Fernando Zobel de Ayala and the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation’s Co-Chairmen Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala and Manuel V. Pangilinan for this exceptional fusion of cross-sector cooperation.
The global fallout of this pandemic is a hard lesson on how health, the world’s economies and the environment are all affected by human activity.
As the country continues to face the multitude of uncertainties brought about by the COVID19 pandemic, this kind of collaborative partnerships must be fostered. All sectors of society must take part in crafting and implementing holistic, science-based and forward-looking measures to address the impact of this global health and economic crisis.
When this pandemic has passed, we hope that the bayanihan spirit and collaborative partnerships will never fade. In a post-COVID19 society, all sectors must work with the same vigor for the environment. Collectively, we can be responsible stewards of the environment. Through bayanihan, we can “build back better” and make our country stronger, sustainable and more resilient.
