Last September 18, 2014 during the Mining Conference 2014, as sponsored by the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines at Sofitel Manila, Philippine Business for Environmental Stewardship (PBEST) participated in its breakout session: “Building an Industrialized Economy/ Environmental Issues” which was led by Dr. CP David.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed today by Philex Mining Corporation, Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation, Benguet Corporation and Nickel Asia Corporation pursuant of PBEST’s ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE TRACKING PROGRAM (EPTP) which is an independent assessment of their environmental performance ; focusing on their own strengths and weaknesses individually, rather than being compared with one another. Participation in this program shall be voluntary and the evaluation shall be done scientifically by independent technical experts from the mining sector.
